Constitution Day

March on down to the Carnegie Branch for our second annual celebration of Constitution Day!

We will be handing out goodies (buttons, tattoos, pocket constitution) from the service desks at Carnegie (while supplies last). Patrons who check out one of our government documents from Adult Services will be entered in a raffle to win a gift card. We will also have a display of candidates and issues that Jackson citizens will be voting on in the upcoming November 6th general election.

Adult Services staff will assist patrons with checking their voter registration status at the adult services desk.

Intended for all ages.

Community Art Contest

Community Art Project, Outside the Lines

Let’s celebrate Jackson’s creative community! As a part of Outside the Lines, Jackson District Library asked Jackson County artists of all ages to create art around the theme of Pages to Projects: Art Inspired by Books. We asked them to paint a picture, make a sculpture, take a photo, craft a quilt, and more. We asked them to be inspired by the written word.

Three winners will be awarded prizes based on the community’s votes on Saturday, September 17.

Join us in downtown Jackson businesses and organizations to vote for your favorite art pieces. Stop into the following organizations to vote for your favorite art piece: JDL’s Carnegie Library, A Frame Above, Anderson Printing, Beads to Live By, Casler’s Hardware, Collins Brothers, Experience Jackson/Jackson County Chamber of Commerce, JTV, Miller Shoe Parlor, Nostalgia Ink, Notch 8, The Orange Peacock Gallery, The Toy House, Walt’s Health Foods and Specialty, The Wandering Owl, YNCA, The Book Exchange and Center for Family Health.

Visit JDL’s event calendar for other Outside the Lines events and programs.
